Cost Engineer

Cost Engineer is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the costs, expenses and forecasts of a project.
Within this specialization in construction, we will focus on managing costs associated to any activity associated with the project, this is, from its programming of resources, the assessment of investments and risk analysis. All in order to obtain an optimum balance between cost, quality and time objectives. Definitely, a Cost Engineer is an engineer whose experience and knowledge are used to carry out the analysis of the profitability of a project.

Cost Engineer as technical profile, which requires a broad knowledge of the studied works and skills to the time to use different tools for estimating costs. They will report reports and will be supervised by a technician within the organization.

Cost engineering began in the 1950’s. The AACE International was founded in 1956, is one of many international engineering organizations representing professionals in these moments. In 2006, AACE published the Total Cost Management (TCM) that describes a process for the application of the skills and knowledge of cost engineering. Also it has been called the world’s first process for portfolio, program and project management.
One of the key objectives of cost engineering is to obtain estimates of costs and schedules the most precise as possible to avoid cost overruns, delays in the programming. Cost Engineer also participates in the management resources and support to management in their decision making. The wide range of prices and themes covering the cost engineering involves extensive knowledge in the fields of project management, the Business Administration and engineering projects. Engineering is concerned with issues that go beyond the physical manifestation of a design or a structure, there are other dimensions to consider, such as money, the time and other resources that were invested in the implementation of a project. Cost Engineer is a complement to traditional engineering, an essential specialist to any construction company.

Project Engineer

Project Engineer embodies the connection between the different technical disciplines of civil engineering, in our case, with the wishes of the direction of projects and clients. It is responsible for translating into a project or report, the constructive design specifications. The Engineer Project is often the technical point of primary contact for the consumer.

In some cases, Project Engineer, and also the Assistant Project Manager, perform tasks of Project Manager
as in any organization will depend on the size of the enterprise and its organizational criteria. In most of the cases, these two professionals have the common responsibility of leading a project.

Project Engineer responsibilities include the preparation of programming and forecast of resources for engineering and other technical activities related to the project. They may also be in charge of the management of other potential suppliers in each project. Project Engineers manage the resources from the Team Project and training and the development of extensive experience of project management and experience. Project teams can be structured in a way covering multiple disciplines and specialties that give support to the Project Engineer. Project Engineer doesn’t necessarily make only design work, they represent the contractor , in the work. They help representatives and companies traders to interpret the meaning of theprojects, ensuring that you constructed it according to the plans of the project, and helping to make controls in it, including your budget, planning and programming.

Other frequent responsibilities assigned to Project Engineer are day-to-day activities of field work and the Organization of the subcontractors. Also the coordination of the implementation of a project, ensuring that it is building correctly in terms of time, quality and economy. You may also be responsible for interpreting drawings for non-technical work agents, as well as responsible for the review of deliverables of Engineering (plans, reports of all kinds, budgets, materials, etc.).

The aim of the Site Supervisor is to prevent and locate any risk to the integrity of the workers, as well as for the integrity of the project quality to be carried out.

The exact role of a Site Supervisor depends largely on the entrusted work. Even so, we can establish common parameters in every case, regardless of the specific project. In the most cases, the work turns around management and personnal instruction during their work.

Establishing goals of functionality and control until the end of the same.
This type of work is not exclusive of the construction sector in any production process, its figure contributes to the project producing agents control sense. People with this type of experience are also necessary when companies develop activities such as the production of events or manufacturing mass in certain facilities. The work then, usually focuses on a period of transition and ends with the execution of a specific goal. The main task of the supervisor in this case, is to ensure that this objective is carried out according to the criteria laid down between the Company Executive Management, with its implementation regulations, and customer, with his contract’s execution.
